By the end of this activity students will be better able to:
- Describe a significant event which has contributed to the Australian identity
- Discuss whether core values such as ‘mateship’ and ‘the spirit of ANZAC’ are part of the Australian identity
- Use the past to interpret and understand the present
- Appreciate that people interpret history in different ways
- Consider the connections between resources, economy, internationalism, living standards and ecological sustainability
- Evaluate the significance of international pressures and human rights
- Critically analyse factors promoting and hindering the achievement of national viability in East Timor.
