These medals are generally awarded where specific campaign medals have not been struck, although in some cases they are awarded in addition to campaign medals, for service in that campaign.
The Australian Active Service Medal 1945-75
Awarded for operational service in the Korean War, the Malayan Emergency, the Indonesian Confrontation, or the Vietnam War. Members must first qualify for one or more of the Korea Medal, The Naval General Service Medal 1915-62 with Clasp 'Malaya', the General Service Medal 1918-62 with Clasp 'Malaya', the General Service Medal 1962 with either Clasps 'South Vietnam', 'Borneo' or 'Malay Peninsula', the Vietnam Medal or the Vietnam Logistic and Support Medal.
The Naval General Service Medal 1915-62
Clasp 'Malaya' awarded for 28 days service afloat patrolling off the coast of Malaya in support of operations against bandits or one day or more on duty ashore in the Federation of Malaya attached to other eligible forces, or one operational sortie over Malaya from a base in Singapore in operations against bandits.
Qualifying period is from 16 June 1948 to 31 July 1960.

The General Service Medal 1918-62
Clasp 'Malaya' awarded for one days operational service in Army or Air Force units in Malaya during the period 16 June 1948 to 31 July 1960 and in Singapore from 16 June 1948 to 31 January 1959.
Other Clasps awarded to Australian Defence Force personnel include: South Persia 1918-19; South-East Asia 1945-46; Bomb and Mine Clearance 1945-56; Brunei; Kurdistan; Palestine 1945-48.
The General Service Medal 1962
Clasp 'South Vietnam' awarded for operational service in South Vietnam from 24 December 1962 to 28 May 1964.
Clasp 'Borneo' awarded for 30 days operational service in Borneo from 24 December 1962 to 11 August 1966.
Clasp 'Malay Peninsula' awarded for 30 days operational service on land in Malaya or Singapore, or afloat in waters surrounding the Malay Peninsula/Singapore during the period 17 August 1964 to 12 June 1965; or on completion of 30 or more sorties by aircraft crews engaged in operational patrols over the waters surrounding the Malay Peninsula/Singapore during the period 13 June 1965 to 11 August 1966.
The Australian Service Medal 1945-75
Awarded for 30 days service in prescribed non-warlike or peacekeeping operations between 3 September 1945 and 14 February 1975. Clasps denoting the area of service are awarded with the medal.
The Australian Active Service Medal
Awarded for operational service in prescribed operations after 14 February 1975. Clasps denoting the area of service are awarded with the medal.
The Rhodesia Medal
Awarded for 14 days service with the Commonwealth Monitoring Force from 1 December 1979 to 20 March 1980.

Awarded for service after 1975 in prescribed non-warlike and peacekeeping operations. Clasps denoting the area of service are awarded with this medal.
