During World War One, a letter took weeks, and often months to arrive. Sometimes, all the soldiers had time for was to fill in one of these cards.

Letters were often the only contact the ANZACs had with their family and friends. They became extremely important for the morale of the soldiers as the war dragged on. (AWM E30)
